China is investigating new satellite images of floating objects in the southern Indian Ocean that may be debris from the lost Malaysia Airlines jetliner that disappeared March 8.

The Malaysian acting transport minister said ships have been sent to the location to investigate objects that appear to be 30 meters wide and 22 meters long, the BBC, Associated Press and Reuters reported.

“Chinese ships have been dispatched to the area. Beijing is expected to make an announcement in a few hours,” Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters.

The Chinese government is expected to report more details later Saturday. We will update this post as news becomes available.
