The Supreme Court surprised observers Monday when it agreed to hear a case out of Michigan that asks whether a state may constitutionally ban affirmative action in university admissions. It has yet to rule on a pending affirmative action case out of Texas. The Texas case could result in a narrow ruling, but the Michigan case is broad. Nina Totenberg talks to Audie Cornish.
