It was a busy weekend for two of Portland’s wintertime sports teams. The Trail Blazers and the Winterhawks aren’t playing right now but the teams were part of off-season player moves.

Several news outlets say the Portland Trail Blazers have acquired forward Thomas Robinson from the Houston Rockets.

Robinson was originally drafted last year one pick ahead of the NBA Rookie of the Year, Blazer Damian Lillard.

The Blazers give up prospects who’ve never played for Portland. The deal could be official next week.

Also over the weekend, the Portland Winterhawks saw four players get jobs in the National Hockey League.

The Nashville Predators’ general manager, David Poile used his team’s top pick — the number four pick in the NHL draft — to choose a Winterhawk.

“The Nashville Predators are very proud to select from the Portland Winterhawks, Seth Jones.”

After Jones, Nicolas Petan, Oliver Bjorkstand, and Brendan Burke were selected in later rounds. The Winterhawks play in the age-restricted Western Hockey League.
