One person died this morning in a blaze at an apartment complex in the Centennial neighborhood of Southeast Portland.
Portland Fire Bureau Public Information Officer Ron Rouse says besides the one death, two other people remain in the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
“Upon arrival we went into rescue mode, we through ladders all around the windows of the structure. There were two units that were fully involved and another two units that were fringed upon, so four units all together. Several people were rescued through the windows. Unfortunately there was one fire fatality,” according to Rouse.
Rouse says an investigation to determine what caused the fire is underway.
