Brief Performance: Portland Opera Marketing Director Resigns

Portland Opera has lost its third staffer in three months. A newly-hired marketing director has left the company about three months after he was hired.

Richard Haney-Jardine started with Portland Opera in July. His resume included a period as director of marketing at Carnegie Hall, and a leadership position in Sony Classical’s new media division.

Haney-Jardine couldn’t be reached for comment. The Opera says he left for personal reasons. An associate in the Opera’s marketing department said the organization can’t comment on the matter.

Haney-Jardine’s position was vacant for two years prior to his hire. His departure leaves the Opera with three open positions in marketing, out of a department of seven.

The Opera is preparing to launch its 2013-2014 season. It’s first production, of Strauss’ Salome, is scheduled for November.
