Oregon’s unemployment rate continues to drop, albeit very slowly. The November unemployment rate is 8.4 percent, compared to 8.6 the month before.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, nonfarm payroll in Oregon rose by 600 jobs in November. State employment economist Nick Beleiciks says the private sector added 1,400 positions while the public sector lost 800.
“The unemployment rate has remained fairly steady through 2012, staying within a range of 8.4 and 8.9 percent,” Beleiciks says.
The national unemployment rate also dropped in November, from 7.9 percent down to 7.7.
The manufacturing sector in Oregon added 1,500 jobs last month, professional and business services added 2,100, while leisure and hospitality lost 2,400.
