The holiday shopping season is now officially underway in the Pacific Northwest. Many bargain-hunters throughout the region skipped that extra helping of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, opting instead to get in line for early Black Friday deals.

In Bend, Pro Image Sports stayed open throughout the night as sports fans took advantage of 20 percent off all licensed Ducks and Beavers apparel. Many of those fans are looking forward to the big Civil War game between the University of Oregon and Oregon State.

Clerk Jeane Wilson says this store’s game day is already under way. “Black Friday though December is probably 80 to 90 percent of the business here. We’ve spent the last three months gearing up for today. So, it’s important.”

Black Friday is also important for Oregon’s larger companies. Harry and David announced both online and instore deals. And Nike picked Black Friday to roll out a new special edition of its popular Air Force 1 sneaker. And you guessed it, it’s all in black.
