The Oregon Department of Human Services has named a new leader for its child welfare program.
Marilyn Jones, who has worked for the department for almost two decades, will begin her role as the Child Welfare Director on Oct. 9.
Oregon’s child welfare system has faced issues such as the maltreatment of children in foster care and high staff turnover.
Former Child Welfare Director Lena Alhusseini resigned from the post in May after less than seven months on the job. An interim director, Laurie Price, has held the post in the meantime.
