City University of New York has announced that Crew is one of three finalists and is scheduled to visit the campus.

A spokesman for Gov. John Kitzhaber says Crew informed the governor last week that he was a finalist.

Crew is a former chancellor of New York City schools and superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

He was hired last summer to oversee Kitzhaber’s effort to improve student achievement and streamline Oregon’s education system from preschool through college.
