Oregon Republican Party chair, Allen Alley, has stepped down from a position with a conservative organization over a recent election-related mailing.
In white script on a pink background, the mailing bears the name, the "Women Voters Guide 2012." It includes endorsements for a host of Republicans, but it also prominently supports three Democratic women: Portlanders Tina Kotek and Ginny Burdick, and Sara Gelser of Corvallis.
The conservative-leaning organization, Oregon Transformation Project sent out the mailers.
Until Sunday, Allen Alley -- the Republican Party chair -- had been the co-chairman of the transformation project’s board.
In a memo dated October 21, Alley resigned from his position on the board, saying: "my job is to elect Republicans at all levels of government."
Alley says he had nothing to do with the mailer, and was not active with the political arm of the Transformation Project.
Organizations that tend to support Democrats, like “Our Oregon" have also criticized the mailing.
