The Oregon Relays Gets A Running Start At Hayward Field


The Oregon Relays kicked off on Thursday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene. The event, which will feature both collegiate and high school athletes from across the Pacific Northwest, runs through Saturday.

Each year the University of Oregon hosts a combined collegiate and high school competition. The Oregon Relays is a chance for high school students from across the Pacific Northwest to learn from collegiate athletes.

On day one of the meet, participants in the collegiate decathlon and heptathlon combined events competed in the 100-meter hurdles, the shot put, high jump, long jump and 200-meter sprint.

At the end of day one, Oregon’s Ashlee Moore was leading the women’s heptathlon and Oregon’s Mitch Modin was leading the men’s decathlon.

The meet continues through Saturday featuring the Bill McChesney Jr. 5,000-Meters, which is by invitation only.
