Three Oregon universities with looming early admission deadlines are offering flexibility to applicants in areas hit by Hurricane Sandy.

US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan asked universities to make such adjustments in an announcement Wednesday.

University of Oregon, Portland State University, and Oregon State all have November 1st deadlines for early acceptance into honors programs.

U of O and PSU have both extended application deadlines a week – to November 8th – for applicants in storm-affected areas. PSU officials say they will also be flexible with their priority filing date, of December 1st.

Oregon State is encouraging students in storm-affected areas to let them know, if they want a late application to be considered in the early round.
