A plane crash in San Francisco is causing some delays up and down the West Coast. The Port of Portland is advising passengers to double check flight status.
Josh Thomas with the Port of Portland has counted 14 flights that will be affected by the San Francisco airport’s closure.
An Asiana Airlines flight from Seoul crash-landed at SFO around 11:30 Saturday.
Thomas says the closure is indefinite.
“With 14 flights, 3 airlines, it definitely has an impact,” Thomas says. “We’ve seen this in other incidents, where there’s other delays, other closures. It can start a domino effect. At this point, not knowing how long this is going to last, it’s hard to guess how severe that effect will be.”
Asiana has some cargo traffic that moves through PDX, but no passenger flights. Thomas says there’s no plan yet for re-routing of planes for San Francisco.
