The big news of the week had mainly legal and social dimensions. But it was made in Washington DC, so of course there’s politics to be found in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions concerning same-sex marriage. Oregon’s political leaders certainly weren’t shy about reacting.

Meanwhile, new developments in Salem and Olympia regarding education – in Salem, the governor’s education advisor and guru is returning to New York, after about a year on the job.

And the president’s message on climate change and energy this week had implications for the Northwest debate over coal exports.

To dig into these rich seams of news, our political guys, Bill and Jeff, have joined us again.

Bill Lunch is OPB’s Political Analyst. Jeff Mapes is the senior political reporter for The Oregonian.
