It’s the first day of summer, and this is the time when we shed some daylight into the long shadows of Oregon politics.

Gov. John Kitzhaber’s authority in clemency cases was confirmed by the Oregon Supreme Court.

In D.C., Sen. Ron Wyden was a whirlwind, moving bills through his committee on restoration of timber payments and expansion of wilderness, while chairing a hearing on the on-going controversy over water in the Klamath Basin.

And in Salem, legislators are moving on legislation to boost the rate of Oregon schoolkids who get vaccinated.

Fridays, we talk to our political guys. Bill Lunch is OPB’s Political Analyst. Jeff Mapes is the senior political reporter for The Oregonian.
