Regular power has not been restored at Portland’s Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center.

The hospital has been running on power from its back-up generators since a power switch failed last night in Northwest Portland.

The failure blew a high voltage fuse and produced a loud crack and bright flash on Northwest 23rd Avenue.

Spokeswoman Megan Turnell says the hospital’s patients are still receiving normal care.

As a precaution, Good Samaritan is not receiving ambulances or new emergency cases. And it has postponed some patients’ elective surgeries until next week.

PGE is working to restore power to the hospital.
