The Portland Development Commission has made an offer on the Chinatown property that’s hosted a homeless camp for more than two years.

The PDC has offered owner landowner Michael Wright and his business partners $1.2 million for the lot where Right 2 Dream Too is set up.

A spokesman for the PDC says this may not be the final price, but it’s where negotiations will start.

Michael Wright says the number is a bit low, but he’s hopeful the two sides can agree on a number.

“Maybe we can close all kinds of chapters to history, and the City of Portland and the PDC can steer that property in whatever direction they think is best for the City of Portland,” he said.

Wright says he’ll hold off on a counter offer. He doesn’t want to displace those living in tents on the property before they have a new place to stay.

Right 2 Dream Too leaders are considering an offer to move the group into a vacant warehouse.
