Portland Police Close Downtown Streets After Bank Robbery

Portland Police say they’ve arrested a suspect in Thursday’s bank robbery downtown.

32-Year-Old Steven Wayne Gentry was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail, according to a release.

Two other people who were in an apartment with the suspect were released.

They were not involved, police said.

No weapon was found.

Police said they responded at 4 p.m. to a report of the robbery at 1900 Southwest 5th Avenue.

They looked for the suspect near Portland State University after witnesses said he’d fled west through downtown.

He was described as about 30 years old, just over six feet tall, with a slender build, scruffy facial hair, long black stringy hair, black baseball cap, black oversized jacket with a possible black eye.

Police closed the area near an apartment building at 1115 Southwest 11th Ave. — but later reopened it after three residents who had left before the SERT team’s arrival were detained.
