The site of last month’s deadly school shooting in Troutdale is getting an overhaul. Before the June 10 shooting, Reynolds School District officials had been planning to renovate the locker rooms at the high school’s athletic center.
Denise Fornberg represents Oh Planning and Design, the architects doing the project. Fornberg says the shooting prompted broader changes, including better security.
“New security doors will be put at the main entrance. The public restroom has been gutted and will have all new finishes and fixtures. And the lobby, through the donations of several local companies, will also have a facelift,” she explained.
There are also plans for a plaque commemorating Emilio Hoffman, the 14-year-old Reynolds student who was killed in the attack.
Fornberg says details of the memorial and other aspects of the overhaul are still being worked out and depend in part on donations.
