A Veteran’s Adminstration hospital in Roseburg is starting a bike-sharing program, to help veterans improve their health.

A fleet of 16 candy red bicycles are parked on the medical center’s campus.

The wires and chains on the bikes are covered by a step-through metal frame. That’s to make it easier for those with disabilities to ride. The bicycles are equipped with an internal GPS device to measure distance traveled, calculate calories burned and estimate carbon emissions avoided.
