The Sisters Folk Festival is celebrating twenty years of music this weekend.

What began as a few hours of music and dancing at the local high school has become an internationally known folk festival.

Each September the small town of Sisters fills with more than 4,000 festival-goers. Now, the festival brings in year-round education programs and events.

Brad Tisdale is the festival's creative director.

"I think we're reached a level of community engagement and community building that hopefully is sustainable and long-term," said Tisdale.

The folk festival sold out earlier than ever this year. Tisdale says that the event brings in $1.2 million dollars to the community annually.
