The Coquille Indian Tribe is intensifying its publicity campaign for a proposed casino in Medford.  That’s after meeting unforeseen resistance from local government officials.

The tribe has produced glossy brochures to address criticisms and is assembling a team to lobby decision makers, according to the Medford Mail Tribune.

Project manager Judy Metcalf says the tribe wasn’t prepared for the opposition.

Critics claim the project violates the statewide compact that limits each tribe to one casino.

The tribe says the Medford business would only have video gambling machines and would be much smaller than its casino in North Bend.
