ECHO — The woman killed Tuesday when her car rolled over her near Echo has been identified as Alberta Mary Norlen, 77, of Stanfield.

Oregon State Police received a call at 6 p.m. that Norlen was trapped underneath her vehicle near exit 193 off Interstate 84, at the intersection of Wells Station and Meyers roads, according to lieutenant Greg Sherman.

OSP has ruled the death accidental. The vehicle, a Dodge Durango, had no apparent damage and no one else was involved in the incident.

Norlen did not put the car in park before getting out, said Umatilla County Sheriff Terry Rowan. But police are not sure why she was getting out of the car, or how she ended up underneath it.

“It’s hard to say what she was doing — it would be speculation,” Rowan said.
