The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is drawing up rules that could limit smokers by the year 2014.

Parks spokesman Chris Havel tells the Salem Statesman Journal that the general recommendation from the agency’s staff is to permit smoking only in personal vehicles and RVs.

The state Parks and Recreation Commission would have to approve the rules. The goal is to have them approved in early 2014.

A recent order from Gov. John Kitzhaber bans smoking and chewing tobacco along the perimeter of most state offices.
