In a reversal, the Oregon Health Authority now says it won’t release the results of a statewide analysis of bone cancer cases.
The authority says releasing the study would violate federal privacy laws that prohibit the release of individually identifiable health information.
The Statesman Journal reports the authority had been prepared to release the analysis of osteosarcoma cases requested more than a month ago by state Rep. Vicki Berger of Salem.
She wanted the study of the state’s cancer registry to provide context to a string of childhood osteosarcoma cases in West Salem.
