Dan Sligh and his wife are among the three people who survived the 120 foot plunge from the bridge span to the Skagit River.
Sligh spoke to King 5 outside of the Skagit Valley Hospital. He described seeing a wide-load truck hit the bridge, seconds before the collapse.
“There was a loud boom — big puff of dust that appeared. Truck made it across span as we locked up the brakes and went right off the edge of the bridge with the whole section. Hit something, which I assume was the asphalt on the bridge.”
Dan Sligh is expected to be released from the hospital Friday. He said his wife is still hospitalized.
