Tigard city officials are advising residents in the Tigard Water Service Area to boil their water. In addition to most of Tigard, the boil-water area includes Durham, King City and Bull Mountain (including unincorporated areas of Washington County).
The "boil water" notice comes because water samples collected early this week tested positive for coliform and E. coli.
Tap water used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, washing dishes and making ice should be boiled for at least one minute. Officials say boiling the water will kill the bacteria identified in the samples. Any water used to make ice or beverages after Sunday, November 18th, should be discarded.
