Train Derails In Union County, Blocks Highway 203

Fourteen rail cars derailed early Wednesday morning and are blocking an eight-mile section of Highway 203 east of LaGrande in Union County.

The Oregon State Police report there are no confirmed injuries and Union Pacific Railroad officials are at the scene working with the LaGrande Fire Department.

Two tankers containing hazardous materials are a part of the derailed section, and a Haz Mat team is evaluating the situation.
