TriMet will resume regular Max service in the Lloyd District on Saturday, August 16. Stops between NE 11th Ave. and Holladay St. have been closed all week due to construction.

Roberta Altstadt is the Public Information Officer at TriMet. She says they have been repairing the tracks. Asphalt in that area had been pulling away from the rails, creating gaps.

“We actually removed all the concrete around the rails and put in new rails and a new switch there. That work has been years in the making. It takes quite a long time to design the materials that are going to go in there,” Altstadt said.

Altstadt adds that a polymer is being used along with the asphalt. It’s meant to prevent water penetration, and bind better to steel and concrete.

Because of the construction, riders have been facing delays all week.

Update: On Friday, a Max car lifted off the track near the Lloyd Center Station. TriMet says that incident will cause major delays during this evening’s commute.

From Trimet:  MAX Blue and Green lines are disrupted. Due to the derailment and construction, shuttle buses are serving stations between Rose Quarter and Hollywood transit centers. MAX Green line trains are only running between Gateway Transit Center and Clackamas Town Center. Riders should expect delays. Trimet.org/a
