State Police in western Oregon are warning travelers to prepare for long drives this weekend. The Ducks and the Beavers are both playing their inaugural home games on Saturday.

With the Oregon State Beavers playing Wisconsin, and the Ducks taking on Fresno State in afternoon games, Interstate 5 will be very busy. Lieutenant Gregg Hastings of the Oregon State Police estimates there will be 30,000 more cars on the road than usual.

"Both teams are playing, right about the same time," Hasting said. "Leave yourself plenty of distance, watch for emergencies that may be developing ahead of you."

He suggests drivers plan on leaving early.

Oregon's Department of Transportation has adjusted some traffic lights around the stadiums and made arrangements to have extra incident responders on the roads. But ODOT is also recommends extra caution, especially after the games.
