When the Portland Timbers face the Seattle Sounders for the first time this season, PDX nerds can sit back knowing that they’ve carried the Rose City to their first win over Seattle in 2014 … at least on Twitter.

Thursday, Multnomah Public Library and Seattle Public Library hosted a Nerd Pep Rally on Twitter, asking bookworms from each city to tweet in the last book they read with the hash tags #bookmatch and either #PDXreads or #SEAreads. Then, for 90 minutes (the length of a soccer game with no half-time), librarians responded with the book titles the tweeters should read next.

The book match went into overtime Friday, but Portland pulled out ahead with a mere 11 more on #PDXreads. The final score, Multnomah library officials said, was 206 to Seattle’s 195.

As the loser, the Seattle Public Library will create a Portland display in their libraries and staff will have to dress up in Timbers gear. Proof should be posted on the Seattle Public Library Facebook page.
