I will be the first to admit that OPB isn’t really known for sports coverage, but that doesn’t mean we tune out sports all together. Au contraire, we are a soccer loving newsroom: We watched the U.S. team claim its first victory while waiting on call backs — It was Ghana happen!
One newsroom TV will be dedicated to the World Cup games and, yes, our productivity will likely drop for one glorious month. And it seems that many of you may be pushing work aside too. I won’t name names, but is everyone in Oregon using the hashtag #WorldCup2014 conveniently sick?
They better hope the boss isn’t monitoring #skipworkwatchsoccer.

That one time every four years people pretend they know stuff about soccer #worldcup— Matt McGoldrick (@ThePaleMamba) June 13, 2014
Not a soccer fan but totally OK if you fill my feed with photos of players. Hashtag Most Beautiful Sport in the World Indeed. #WorldCup— Angela Reid (@swolasses) June 12, 2014
World Cup: Because no one knows the rules of soccer, but everyone likes an excuse to drink and yell. #WorldCup2014— Josh Carter (@TheINDIEHost) June 12, 2014
