This weekend, Americans will binge watch as they have never binge watched before. FXX is airing every single episode of The Simpsons, in order, plus The Simpsons Movie through Sept. 1.
The marathon started on Thursday, but those of us with a 9-to-5 job haven’t had the chance to tune in for more than a few episodes at a time. Now you’ll have two full days of uninterrupted viewing, plus your Friday night and Monday morning.
If you were to sit down and watch the show’s 25 seasons (that’s 552 episodes, 22 minutes each) without commercials or bathroom breaks, it would take you a whopping 202 hours and 24 minutes. That comes out to eight and a half days.
The marathon coincides with the dedication of Oregon’s own Simpsons mural Monday in Springfield (where else?).
Yeardly Smith, an Emmy Award winner for voicing Lisa Simpson, and animator Julius Preite will both be in attendance for the dedication.
It’ll be quite the party complete with a tuba band, donuts, chalk art and more. Smith and Springfield officials will dedicate the mural at noon Monday.
I support a healthy binge watch, but I’m not going to pretend that I’m a Simpsons super fan. So, I will refer you to FXX’s schedule and Willamette Week has its own guide to the best episodes.
