Calling all those retired people, both young and old: Portlandia is gearing up for season five and looking for local extras.

The IFC show starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein shoots on location on city streets, local cafes and “backyard sustainable organic farms,” among other places. Simon Hill Casting company writes on its website that ideal extras will be ready to get a last-minute call about a shoot or to sit around for hours.

“Bring a book, or if you can’t read, a shiny object to stare at,” the company stated on its website.

The cast and crew are in town, already working on the new season. The stars recently celebrated Emmy nods at a local brunch hotspot.

But for Portlandia’s biggest fans across the country with real jobs and a 401k, for whom coming to the Rose City isn’t an easy option, Portlandia has you covered too. The show is hosting a sweepstakes package to win a job as an extra.

The winner will likely have to wait around with the other extras, but only for four days plus round-trip airfare for two, hotel accommodations and some Portlandia swag.

If you are hoping to win in an effort to rub elbows with Fred and Carrie, be forewarned, quizzed about which fictional character from the show he’d most likely be friends with, Armisen recently revealed it would be Candace, from the feminist bookstore.
