If you hadn’t yet had the chance to get to know the Democratic candidates the First Congressional District Special Election, this was your week. A debate on KGW-TV this week gave the candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves.

Brad Avakian: “I’m a guy who rolls up his sleeves, I work hard, and I get the job done.”

Brad Witt: “I am not an attorney, I am not a millionaire. I have dedicated my career to working families.

Susan Bonamici: “I have something to offer. I have a record based on my ability to get things done without being divisive or offensive.”

That’s Brad Avakian, Brad Witt and Suzanne Bonamici, in order.

Other political news was dominated by announcements from those who will not run again.

The Attorney General, John Kroger, surprised almost everyone with his announcement.

And out on the Oregon coast, state Sen. Joanne Verger also announced that she will not run again.

It’s politics on Fridays, and Bill and Jeff just won’t quit. They have joined us again.
