Rain wasn’t the only thing that seemed to suddenly fall from the sky this week - there was unexpected political news as well.

Congress finally passed a farm bill, and it included some benefits for Oregon tree farmers while also cutting food stamps. Democrat Ron Wyden got closer to becoming chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee. And Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate held a debate  as they prepare to challenge Democrate Jeff Merkley for his seat these falls.
