The week was dominated by news of the horrific shootings in Connecticut, which came soon after killings by a shooter at the Clackamas Town Center last week. Gun control proposals are now being considered in Salem as well as Congress.
Meanwhile, a special session of the Oregon legislature a week ago approved a tax proposal from Gov. Kitzhaber to benefit Nike.
And at least one Oregon Republican is stepping up to take over the leadership of his party.
