President Obama had planned a day of reelection events in Florida, but those plans were scrapped after the shooting rampage in Aurora, Colorado, that killed 12 people at a movie theater. He said this morning that there will be other days for politics.
One of those days could be next Tuesday. The president is planning to visit Portland, and as far as we know, he's still coming.
In advance of the visit, his administration has given Oregon a waiver from some requirements in the No Child Left Behind law.
Other political news of the week: Rep. Kevin Cameron is stepping down as a party leader in Salem.
We take a deeper look at politics on Fridays with our political guys, OPB’s Political Analyst Bill Lunch and The Oregonian's senior political reporter Jeff Mapes. To hear the conversation, click the audio icon above.
