The political news of the week was dominated by the death of former Oregon Governor and Senator Mark Hatfield, but there were other developments.

In the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid named Washington Senator Patty Murray to co-chair the congressional super-committee, charged with developing a plan to reduce the federal deficit. And in Portland, labor leader Tom Chamberlain announced that he may be interested in running for Mayor next year.

On Fridays, we look back on the week in politics with Bill and Jeff. Bill Lunch is OPB’s Political Analyst; he’s at the OSU Media Center. Jeff Mapes is the senior political reporter and blogger for The Oregonian.
