 At some point today, take a moment to look around, breathe the autumn air, bask in the sun and glorious fall colors.  Relax in the knowledge the United States will not default on its debt obligations, at least not now.

We’re going to parse the votes on the funding package that kicks the debt can down the road a few weeks.

In other political news, Sen. Jeff Merkley has a Republican challenger next year.

And a couple of interesting stories moved through Oregon on medical marijuana and gay marriage.
