A Portland glass maker that came under fire for toxic air pollution this year has been sold, and is moving its production to Mexico.
Uroboros Glass announced Tuesday that California-based Oceanside Glasstile has agreed to buy the company, its equipment and its formulas.
The Portland glassmaker had to shut down much of its production this year when a Forest Service study of moss discovered the company was emitting toxic heavy metals into the neighboring air.
Uroboros will reopen its business in Tijuana, Mexico, around May. The company had operated in Portland for more than 40 years.
