Oregonians May Have More Time To Enroll For Uninterrupted Health Insurance

Oregonians may have more time to buy health insurance and have uninterrupted coverage than previously believed.

For months, Cover Oregon had been saying Dec. 15 was the deadline for uninterrupted coverage.

But now, spokeswoman Amy Fauver says the agency is checking with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to see if customers really have until Dec. 31.

“There are circumstances where we believe you may still be able to enroll in a plan that would begin on Jan. 1st,” she says.  “But it’s also possible that your coverage may not start until Feb. 1st of 2015. But, either way, getting the process started now is very important, so go to healthcare.gov and fill out your application.”

The window for anyone to enroll on healthcare.gov closes Feb. 15.

With its technical troubles largely behind it, the website has so far enrolled almost 2 million new customers.
