Each week the Monday Mix showcases three brand new songs from the opbmusic broadcast. This week we feature a track from a Canadian super-group, a care-free tune from an indie-rock favorite, and a second release from an upcoming album.
The New Pornographers - High Ticket Attractions
“High Ticket Attractions” is the first release off of The New Pornographers’ upcoming album, Whiteout Conditions, out on April 7th. The track is tight, bright, and fun with cascading synth sounds and the band’s signature male-female vocal harmonies. The track is accompanied by a nifty interactive lyric video you can check out here.
Mac DeMarco - My Old Man
Indie rock darling, Mac DeMarco has announced a new album, This Old Dog, and shared two leading singles. “My Old Man” finds Mac putting his acoustic guitar front and center over a soft electronic drum beat, watery synths, and his signature laid back, mellow croon. This Old Dog is set to release on May 5th.
Father John Misty - Ballad of the Dying Man
Father John Misty is back at it with another new release, “Ballad of the Dying Man” from his upcoming album, Pure Comedy, out on April 7th. As the name would suggest, the track tells the short-sighted laments of a dying man who mourns the social commentary he soon will no longer be able to give. Josh Tillman leans heavily on acoustic guitar and piano until the song swells into a gospel choir closing.
