opbmusic's Monday Mix: Dirty Projectors, Jesca Hoop, Lo Moon

Each week the Monday Mix showcases three brand new songs from the opbmusic broadcast. This week we feature tracks from an indie-rock experimenter, a new LA-based band, and an artist coming to town next month.

Dirty Projectors - Cool Your Heart feat. DΔWN

“Cool Your Heart” is a bubbling track off of Dirty Projectors’ recently released self-titled album. Co-written by Solange, the track features R&B singer DΔWN who adds some warmth to the rhythmic, glitchy instrumentation. The album, as a whole, finds frontman David Longstreth post-break up with former band mate Amber Coffman and taking on those emotional highs and lows head on over experimental electronic grooves.

Jesca Hoop - Memories Are Now

The title track from Jesca Hoop’s new album Memories Are Now is sparse and carefully arranged around steady guitar and Hoop’s harmonizing, layered vocals. She is patient and delicate, but undeniably self-assured, in singing “If you’re not here to help, go find some other life to ruin. Let me show you the door.” Catch her show on March 18th at the Aladdin Theater.

Lo Moon - Loveless

Lo Moon are a new three piece band based in L.A. that have recently gotten some attention after going on tour, signing with a major label, and teasing this song we’re featuring called “Loveless.” The track is cinematic and spacey, with a steady drum beat driving it forward. Keep an eye out for Lo Moon’s debut album which they are currently working on with producer Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie).
