Nick Delffs is a familiar name to fans of Portland bands The Shaky Hands, Tiburones and a brief solo venture he helmed under the pseudonym Death Songs. From jangle pop anthems to gothic folk songs, Delffs’ eclectic catalogue has repeatedly demonstrated his uncanny ability to create beautiful (and catchy) songs regardless of genre or mood. That versatility has also made him a sought-after touring musician. Despite all of this, he remains one of the region’s best kept secrets.
This summer, Delffs’ name recognition is likely going to expand beyond that cadre of Pacific Northwest music insiders. Delffs, who has since relocated to Boise, Idaho, is set to release the first album under his own name. That record, Redesign, comes out on July 21st, but you can hear the first single, “Somewhere Wild,” right now here at opbmusic (above).
Redesign is available for pre-order from Mama Bird Recording Co. today.
Nick Delffs plays at Mississippi Studios in Portland on July 21st along with Haley Heynderickx and Clarke and the Himselfs.
