opbmusic Session: Bed's Slow-Fi Sound

Portland band bed. is worth taking the trouble to find, even if a Google search of their name will lead you to sales on mattresses. Working as a trio of a powder blue guitar, bass, and drums, bed. has been gaining notice around Portland for their sound. With songs wrapped in grungy, melodic guitar, male-female vocals, and lo-fi recordings, they lyrically evoke moody afternoons gladly spent laid back and warm indoors. The group is fronted by married couple Alex and Sierra Haager, who also run their own record label, Breakup Records.

Singer and guitarist Sierra Haager sat down with us to discuss bed.’s beginnings, the realities of making music, and what life is like when you’re not racing cars and smoking cigarettes. Watch the performances above and hear the interview in the audio player below. You can catch the band’s next local show on Saturday, October 3rd at Mississippi Studios.
