Big Scary: Art-Pop Music From Melbourne

Australian band Big Scary is built on the work of Tom Iansek and Joanna Syme. Over two albums, their calling card has been making uniquely catchy songs featuring Iansek’s soulful falsetto voice over minimalist keyboard lines and beats. Their new single “Organism” strips their sound down to its core: funky sax and bass riffs gradually give way to mostly single-note jabs at the keys (and sax) and Syme’s sharp hits from the drumkit. This single leads off a set of three brand new songs (the second song has only the working title of “Craigey”), recorded at soundcheck before their recent performance at Doug Fir Lounge.

Big Scary is currently on tour in the Northeast, and will be in Europe through the end of 2015.
