Few Portland bands make a bigger splash than Portland Cello Project, whose wildly eclectic programs span contemporary classical compositions, to covers of Prince, Kanye and Florence and the Machine. The group expands in number depending on the concert, sometimes featuring as many as 12 cellists playing originals and music adapted for their unique construction.
In this new Road Sessions video, Portland Cello Project plays Nancy Ives’ composition “Shard” at beautiful Bridal Veil Falls. You can reach the park east of Portland, just off I-84 about 12 miles east of Troutdale.
Portland Cello Project’s tribute to Prince, “Dance Party in Purple,” is July 15-16 at Doug Fir Lounge.
Travel Oregon has more info about the locations for the Road Sessions. Look for a new premiere every Thursday this month and the first week of July, featuring Northwest artists in some of Oregon’s beautiful State Parks.
