Oakland group The Coup is a revolutionary band. Literally. Boots Riley and company are preaching revolution — against control, against capitalism, and doing it with a deeply funky sound and tremendous, high-energy performance. We caught up to the group just before their recent Star Theater show for this soundcheck session. They play songs from their latest album, Sorry to Bother You, including a favorite among opbmusic DJs, “The Magic Clap.”
