Portland band Wild Ones plays songs from their debut record.

Originally conceived in 2010 as the duo recording project of vocalist Danielle Sullivan and keyboardist Thomas Hines, Portland’s Wild Ones has since expanded in sound and vision (and, as often happens, in band members). Clayton Knapp, Andy Parker, Nick Vicario and Lauren Jacobsen have all since come into the fold, the majority of the sextet tracing its personnel roots back to Portland high schools, not to mention a few bands (including the now-defunct and many-membered Eskimo and Sons).

Following an impessive debut EP in You’re a Winner that arrived about 18 months back, Wild Ones will soon put the finishing touches on their first full-length. While title and release date are still officially TBD, the band told us to expect a darker. more dynamic sound as compared to their dancier early incarnation. To our ears, the new stuff still sounds plenty danceable, as Wild Ones introduced four new songs for our session.

Don’t miss Wild Ones headlining our monthly showcase PDX/Rx alongside My Body this Saturday, May 19th at Mississippi Studios. It’s another chance to catch some of our city’s most talked about up and coming bands for the price of absolutely free— hope to see you there!
